Community members gather in Giltner gym to celebrate Hornet's success
(11/22/09) By Colin Murphy - Getting excited about going to the State Football Title game is not just limited to the Players.
There was evidence of that Sunday night in Giltner.
Dozens of community members gathered Sunday night in the Giltner gym to hold a pep rally to celebrate the team's success.
And, get the Hornets ready for their Class D1 State Title game against Howells\ scheduled for Monday at Memorial Stadium.
Members from the two previous State Championship teams of 1971 and 1984 gave the squad an inspirational talk.
Father's of some players help put on a skit as in which they dressed up as woman.
Coach Jeff Ashby said heading to the finals is a time to celebrate for everyone in the town of Giltner.
The Hornets got to the finals with a 64–36 win over Palmer at home.
On Monday, they will take on defending State Champions Howells, who beat Johnson Brock 38–6 in their semi–final game.
Giltner knows what they need to do in order to bring home the trophy.
Game time between the two teams will be at 2:45 Monday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
