Hastings soldier talks about tragedy at Fort Hood

(11/06/2009) KHAS-TV - We are hearing more Friday from Nebraska soldiers at Fort Hood Texas. That is where an army major went on a deadly shooting spree Thursday killing 13 people and injuring dozens more.

Lieutenant Colonel Dan Lonowski from Hastings is at Fort Hood preparing to be deployed to Afghanistan.

Before leaving to serve in the Military he worked as the Head Coach of the Adams Central Wrestling team. Dan was about 6 blocks away from where the shooting happened.

Dan is with the 135th ESC unit out of Alabama. A soldier from his unit was shot yesterday. He is recovering.

Friday Dan was part of a ceremony honoring the 13 people killed.

Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman is reminding you to fly your U.S Flags at half–staff in tribute to the shooting victims. President Obama issued the proclamation Friday. Flags should be flown at half staff until sunset Tuesday.
