Mother killed in York County car accident
(11/03/2009) By James Wilcox - The York County Sheriff's Office said a woman was driving in the wrong direction when she hit another car head on causing a deadly crash. It happened around 7:30 Monday night here on Highway 81 just south of York.
The York County Sheriff said 34 year old Renae Epp of Aurora was killed.
She was driving her minivan northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway. Her van hit another car head on.
Two of Epp's 3 children were seriously injured in the crash and flown to an Omaha Hospital. They are 10 year old Jaydin and 8–year–old Brooklyn. Another child in the van, a 2 year old, was not injured.
The driver of the pickup was also hurt and taken to the hospital. He is 34 year old Thomas Shutz of Omaha.
A 3rd car was also involved. It was behind Shutz's vehicle and clipped his car when the crash happened. The driver in that car was not hurt.
Authorities said alcohol is not suspected.
They think Epp made a mistake accidentally turning onto the highway in the wrong direction.
