Crick makes a name for himself

(11/02/2009) By Colin Murphy - If teams in the Big 12 think they can just double team Husker Ndamukong Suh and not worry about Jared Crick on the defensive line, well, they might want to rethink that strategy. Just ask Baylor coach Art Briles.

In Nebraska's win over Baylor on Saturday, Crick tied a school record with five sacks and also had 10 solo tackles, seven for loss.

The Cozad native has been coming out of Suh's shadow and making a name for himself this season.

Crick has been named the Big 12 defensive player of the week for his play against the Bears.

This is his second defensive award in 2 days.

Monday at the Big 12 teleconference call, Baylor Coach Art Briles says when it comes to blocking Suh and Crick, teams just have to pick their poison.

Crick also received a helmet sticker on ESPN's College Gameday final show this Saturday.
