Dakota Wesleyan Top Seed in the 2009 GPAC Women’s Soccer Tourney



(Sioux City, Iowa) – Dakota Wesleyan will be the number one seed when the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament opens on Thursday, November 5. The Tigers are the number one seed and regular season champions after going 11-0-1 in conference play and 15-0-3 overall. Dakota Wesleyan has secured the league’s first automatic bid to the NAIA National Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round on Saturday, November 21.

Eight teams will compete in the single elimination tournament with the winner advancing, as the league’s second representative, to the NAIA National Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round. The GPAC is allotted two automatic berths because of the 12 NAIA teams in the conference. Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Final Site in Decatur, Alabama, November 30-December 5, 2009.
