Berge leads Storm to victory over Lincoln, 5-1



LINCOLN, NE – The Tri-City Storm (6-1-1, 13 pts) extended their winning streak to four games defeating the Lincoln Stars (4-7-0, 8 pts) 5-1 on Saturday night. The Storm’s Josh Berge and Jaden Schwartz each had one goal and two assists in the victory.

Schwartz opened the scoring 5:43 into the first period on the power play. Berge and Michael Montrose assisted on the goal that gave the Storm a brief 1-0 lead. Currently, Schwartz has a seven game point streak.

Less than two minutes later, Lincoln’s John McCarron scored to tie the game at 1-1. It would be the only goal that would sneak past Storm goalie Carsen Chubak.

The captain Berge would net his first goal of the season at the 10:47 mark in the first period that would eventually be the game-winning goal. Radoslav Illo and Anthony DeCenzo each picked up helpers on the goal.

DeCenzo would score a short-handed goal 8:04 into the second period that was assisted by Berge, which gave the Storm a 3-1 lead. It was the first short-handed goal of the season for Tri-City.

The Storm’s Nate Jensen scored 46 seconds later that was set up by Schwartz and Brett Mohler. The goal by Jensen also extended his point streak to five games.

Tri-City added an empty-net goal in the third period, which was scored by Maxwell Tardy and assisted by Schwartz. Tardy now has a four game point streak to add to the list of players on streaks.

The Storm on the power play was 1-4, while Lincoln was 0-7 with the man-advantage.

Storm goalie Chubak (5-1-1) made 18 saves on 19 shots earning the victory. Jared Coreau (4-6-0) made 27 saves on 31 shots receiving the loss.

The Storm will play the Lincoln Stars at home on November 3rd before travelling back on the road to play two games in Sioux Falls (Friday) and Des Moines (Saturday).
