Nebraska drops in child welfare rankings

(7/28/2009) By James Wilcox - A new report out on child welfare shows Nebraska slipping in the national rankings. But our state still sits in the top 25 percentile.

A child advocacy group put the report together called "Kids Count."
It ranks Nebraska at 11 in the nation for child well being. Last year we were number 9.

The drop is mainly due to an increase in child poverty and teen deaths.

The state ranked number one in the nation is New Hampshire followed by Minnesota and Utah. Mississippi ranked the lowest.
