Quilts of Valor being collected for soldiers

(6/09/2009) By Curt Casper - More than a thousand quilts from across the Midwest are on their way to U.S. soldiers. Tuesday the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln had 25 patriotic quilts on display.

It is part of an effort by "Quilts of Valor Across America." The organization is picking up donated quilts in Lincoln. It will then send them to soldiers returning from Afghanistan in North Carolina.

"It is really about people, not politics. It is not really about what people care about a particular war. I think we all can get behind those soldiers and show them how we appreciate their service to us and give them a little piece of home in terms of a quilt," said Maureen Ose.

Lincoln is one of five locations where quilts will be picked up. The goal is to collect 1200 quilts.
