Anthony Pura

Anthony Pura joined the News 5 Team as a reporter in May 2009. Anthony graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a minor in political science. He went on to earn a Master's Degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

His passion for broadcast journalism sparked when he interned for CNN in Washington, DC. Later, he interned for KABC and KTTV in Los Angeles. He recently worked with AP Television, helping cover the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. "It is so satisfying to learn something new and interesting everyday and then be able to share it with others, not only by telling them but by showing them," he said.

A native of California's Central Valley, Anthony grew up in the Kerman and Fresno communities. Now he is looking forward to getting to know the Heartland. He says Nebraska has a very special feel; despite living in many big cities, this is the one that feels the most like his hometown. "I really feel at home," Anthony said, "the people here are great, I can't wait to tell their stories. It's a real privilege to be welcomed and trusted by so many."

When Anthony isn't in front of the camera, he is usually catching up on sleep. "I love the job, but it can be exhausting," he said candidly. He likes keeping in touch with his family as well as his Fresno crew back home. He also enjoys working out, surfin' the net, traveling and watching sports. He is a little glad Nebraska doesn't have a professional football team, because he can only root for the 49ers. Anthony is looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
