Accomplished wrestler returns to Husker nation



(9/09/2008) News 5 Sports - What a great moment Saturday it was at Memorial Stadium when the Huskers took on San Jose State. One of the most famous and accomplished University of Nebraska athletes visted Lincoln.

2000 Olympic gold medalist and former Husker wrestler Rulon Gardner returned to campus to see the game, talk with with old friends and meet new ones.

Rulon had a chance to sign many autographs at the Husker nation pavilion.

Already a best selling author, Rulon has many projects in the works.

Rulon, of course, won his gold medal in the sport of Greco–Roman wrestling at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

He defeated the seemingly unbeatable Alexander Korelin, Alexander the Great of Russia, 1–0, Alexander's first loss in International Competition.

This Wyoming has become almost as famous for his 2 brushes with death since then from a snowmobile accident and plane crash.
