New complex to be built at Adams Co. Fairgrounds
(7/26/2008) Ginger ten Bensel - Night 4 of the Adams County Fair is in full swing right now, but some people are already talking about next year. That's because there are now plans for a three million dollar upgrade to the fairgrounds.
The new Ag Complex will house a new show arena, show animals and much more.
The facility is expected to be up and running by fair time next year and officials plan to raise nearly three million dollars to make it all happen.
Patrick Niles has been showing animals at the Adams Co. Fair for a number of years.
The word of a new Ag facility inspired Patrick's 4–H Club The Wanda Dovers to donate $500 for the facility.
“The future is dependent on what we do now,” said Patrick.
And Patrick believes that future will mean more people getting involved with the fair...
“I think it will get new 4-H’ers,” said Patrick.
“It will really help the kids,” said Connie Niles, 4-H Council President.
And that is what Julie Ochsner with the Adams Co. Ag. Society is hoping for, but to make the new facility a reality they will have to tear down seven buildings.
“This building is a great key point in the growth of Hastings and Adams Co,” said Ochsner.
The Ag. Facility will also provide another tornado shelter in case of a storm.
“It will be the restroom areas; it will add more area for people to go,” said Oschner.
The Adams Co. Fair is one of the top four county fairs in the state of Nebraska.
If you would like to donate to the new Ag facility fund, contact the Adams County Fair Grounds at 402-462-3247.
