Rockwell inspired production raises funds for Huntington’s

(7/26/2008) By Adam Lefkoe - Baby boomers and children were treated to some old school Rock n' Roll in Kearney today.

The show is called "Rockin with Rockwell", and today the production made its way to the Merryman Theater.

The show combines music of the 50's and 60's with scenes inspired by Norman Rockwell paintings.

It's called living art, where local actors pose as the characters in the portraits. The show is meant to raise awareness about Huntington's Disease. One of the organizers lost her husband to the disease.

“Then when she asked for my help, I was like 'we got to do this, we just got to do this'. And the idea was to make it a family oriented show. So that was for families and to help families,” said Terri Mead, show writer and director.

Close to 70 volunteers from the Kearney area served as the actors and stage hands for the show.
